21/03/2012 00:00:00
Four employees at PHS Datashred, the data destruction company, have hit the ground running and raised over £2000 for Whizz Kidz the charity that supports disabled children and young people in the UK.
As part of the Gold Challenge Olympic Stadium event, a team of 30 employees are aiming to run, cycle, row and walk 2012 kms by the end of October.
Furthermore on Sunday April 1, four members of the team – Stewart Bowles, Jessica Regan, Andrew Coffer and Will Awdas- have been chosen as the first in the world to run a 4x100m relay against other corporate fund raisers at the Olympic Stadium, ahead of the London 2012 Olympic & Paralympic Games. They will use the track ahead of many athletes, celebrities and dignitaries.
Anthony Pearlgood, commercial director at PHS Datashred, said:
“We’re all donning our trainers and getting sporty for this worthwhile charity that improves the lives of disabled children and young people. It’s great to work as a team on this and it’s such an honour to be invited to run on the same track that Usain Bolt will be speeding down in July. Come and cheer us on at the event on 1 April.”
On 1 April a series of 100m sprints, relay races and a Gold Challenge Olympic themed parade will take place. Live music acts, a Team GB ambassador, international rugby stars and pop stars will also be there on the day.
